________________________
This work belongs to a series of still lifes that Subirachs produced during the 80’s and 90’s.
It is a table formed by two sides at right angles that rests on a pyramid. Both are elements widely used by the artist.
On the table, the artist places a series of elements very typical of his particular iconography. Thus, we find a compass, a glass (or an egg cup), a hand with the scepter of command, a sphere and the usual draping. All these elements are highly loaded with symbolism. The compass symbolizes technical mastery, the cup the fruits of the earth, the hand with the scepter symbolizes power. the sphere alludes to the geometry that is present in all the elements in the universe, and finally the draping as a magical element. All this is supported on the apex of a quadrangular pyramid.
