In addition to his pictorial work, Ricardo Moraga has also explored the field of sculpture. This work belongs to the Machines series that the artist developed between 2010 and 2015.

Moraga is an artist who is very sensitive to environmental issues. Art is a good way to make the general public aware of the need to take care of our environment. For this reason, most of his sculptures have been created using recycled materials.

In this case, Moraga has recycled wood, metal sheets, an old brass water tap, and papers. The result is a conceptual work that aims to draw the viewer’s attention to the fact that books are condensers of old wisdom. However, today, the use of books is disappearing in favour of electronic media. The artist’s intention is to lead the observer to reflection.

As usual in Moraga’s works, all the metal parts of the work are oxidized. Rust is an element that is repeated in almost all of the artist’s works, and that he uses to reflect the passage of time, which affects all things and beings.
