THE EVENT
The Hotel Estela Barcelona – Hotel del Arte from Sitges is hosting a painting exhibition by the artist, painter and sculptor, Maruchi Ripoll. The event will also feature the presentation of the book about the artist, with a foreword by renowned art critic Josep Maria Cadena.
The opening of the exhibition and book presentation will take place on Friday, May 16th at 7:30 pm. At 9:00 pm, visitors may share dinner with the artist. The exhibition will remain open to the public until the end of July.
The book reviews the extensive pictorial and sculptural work of the multifaceted Maruchi Ripoll from an artistic perspective, placing special emphasis, of course, on the Globalist School.
A STYLE OF HER OWN
Since her beginnings in the 1950’s, Maruchi Ripoll’s painting has evolved through different styles and several creative stages. Likewise, the artist herself has evolved technically, thematically, and stylistically. In her early days, she turned to expressionist painting that invited reflection on ethical and moral themes. The abundant use of the human figure is notable in her works from this period. These works leave no one indifferent, addressing themes such as loneliness, unrequited love, and marginalization.
Guided by her passion for art, Maruchi Ripoll has always been a student of the different artistic movements and their peculiarities, and a researcher who has been able to extract the technical essence of each artistic movement to adapt it to her painting. Thus, she has gradually refined her technique with mastery, completing a comprehensive vision of her painting that includes elements from various artistic movements and is known as Pictorial Globalism.
Maruchi Ripoll is, in her own right, the founder of this new style and the greatest exponent of this new Globalist School. From its beginnings, Globalism was a naturalistic style that sought beauty, portraying gardens, flower arrangements, groves, and natural spaces. However, over the years, the artist has also turned to the representation of unique architectural spaces of great beauty and complexity, especially those of her admired architect Antoni Gaudi.
It is a fresh and precious style, heavily supported by the intensive use of color and the thickness of the paint, seeking to impact the observer with its beauty and its richness of technical resources. To achieve this, the artist combines different techniques: to extend the painting, she uses a highly detailed impressionist technique very close to pointillism, while the spectacular nature of the chosen plant themes is very reminiscent of Rusiñol’s modernist gardens. The result is works of great beauty, with a strong lyrical charge that, among other things, remind us of the passion for her profession and the patience of their creator in bringing them to life.
A VERSATILE ARTIST
So, in addition to being a methodical artist, it’s also worth mentioning that Maruchi Ripoll is a versatile artist who typically paints in oil on canvas and watercolor on paper, but has also created several bronze sculptures.
In short, she is a global artist with her own style and a body of work that surprises the viewer with its beauty and with the technique used to execute it.
This exhibition has the collaboration of the Fundació Josep Puigmarti.
