The room pays homage to the famous architect Antoni Gaudi.
Joan Iriarte (Barcelona, 1936-Sitges, 2018) was an important photographer with the soul of an artist, who shows us his admiration for the famous architect of the Temple of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. In fact, Iriarte was born and grew up in a house located in front of the temple. This led him to feel a great fascination for the famous architect and his work.
Sketch of room 103 by Joan Iriarte
The room consists of a photomontage based on images taken in the Parc Güell in Barcelona. Also inside the room, we find a second montage made from photographs of details and wrought iron fittings found in various buildings created by Gaudi. In the center of it we find a copper medal with the face of Gaudi by Josep Maria Subirachs, the creator of the Passion Facade of the Sagrada Familia.
On the terrace of the room, Iriarte created several details using the «trencadis» technique that Gaudi used so much with small pieces of ceramic forming a mosaic. Thus, we can see a sphere and a cement bench topped by a dragon that remnds the one in Park Güell.
